Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at ehoffart@greatleapsbc.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is an evidence-based therapy that uses the science of learning and behavior to help children build communication, social, play, independence, and coping skills. ABA focuses on teaching meaningful skills and reducing behaviors that may interfere with learning and daily life.

We primarily serve young children from the time of diagnosis through approximately 8 years of age. Children over 8 may be accepted on a case-by-case basis.

If you are unsure whether your child is a good fit, we are happy to schedule a free consultation to discuss your child’s needs.

There are many reasons why you should choose GLBC.

  • We are local: Conveniently located in the heart of Waller, we are proud to serve and build meaningful relationships with families and members of the community.
  • BCBA Owned & Operated: Clinical quality, ethical standards, and positive client outcomes always come before profit. Our leadership is directly involved in ensuring every child receives individualized, high-quality care.
  • A Thoughtfully Designed Therapy Space: Our therapy environment is intentionally designed to encourage movement, learning, and play.
  • Individualized & Flexible Teaching: No two children are alike. We use flexible teaching strategies and tailor every program to your child's unique strength. needs, and family goals.
  • Child-Led, Naturalistic, Play-Based Therapy: We provide therapy that feels meaningful and motivating. By following your child's interests and embedding learning into natural play routines, we create engaging sessions that build real-world skills in a joyful way.

The best time to seek ABA therapy is as soon as your child receives an autism diagnosis — or whenever developmental concerns first arise.

Research consistently shows that early intervention can have a significant impact on communication, social development, emotional regulation, independence, and school readiness. Young children’s brains are highly adaptable, making early childhood an especially important window for learning foundational skills.

That said, it’s never “too late” to benefit from ABA therapy. Children of many ages can make meaningful progress with individualized, evidence-based support.

If you’re unsure whether now is the right time, we’re happy to discuss your child’s needs and help you determine next steps.

ABA therapy and school serve different, but equally important and complimentary, purposes in a child's development.

School primarily focuses on academic instruction, such as reading, writing, and math, within a group setting. Teachers manage classrooms and follow grade-level curriculum standards designed to meet the needs of many students at once. Schools also provide opportunities for peer interaction and structured routines.

ABA therapy, on the other hand, is fully individualized and focuses on building the foundational skills that help a child succeed both in school and in everyday life. These skills may include communication, emotional regulation, social interaction, behavior support, and independence. ABA is typically delivered in a 1:1 setting, with ongoing data collection and teaching strategies that adjust in real time based on your child’s progress.

For some children, full-time ABA may be appropriate for a period of time to strengthen foundational skills. For others, attending school with additional ABA support may be the best fit. The right choice depends on your child’s individual needs, strengths, and developmental goals.

In short, school often teaches what to learn. ABA helps teach how to learn.

Yes! We work with several insurance providers and are actively expanding our network.

If you do not see your insurance listed, please give us a call. In some cases, we may be able to obtain a single case agreement while we work toward securing in-network status.

To begin services, you will need to submit:

  • Completed intake paperwork
  • Insurance information
  • A comprehensive diagnostic report

Once we receive your documents, we will request assessment authorization from your insurance provider. After approval, we will contact you to schedule your child’s comprehensive assessment.

If you are interested in enrolling your child in ABA therapy at GLBC, give us a call and we will walk you through the process step by step.

A comprehensive diagnostic report is a detailed evaluation that confirms a diagnosis of autism. It typically includes:

  • Clinical interviews
  • Developmental history
  • Direct observation
  • Standardized behavioral assessments

For insurance purposes, the report must be completed by a licensed psychologist, developmental pediatrician, or neurologist.

Please note: Diagnoses completed solely by school districts do not meet insurance requirements and cannot be accepted for authorization of services.

Your child’s Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) will select assessment tools based on your child’s age, developmental level, current skills, behavioral challenges, and your family’s goals.

The assessment typically includes:

  • Caregiver interviews
  • Direct observation
  • One-on-one interaction with your child

This process allows us to get to know your child and develop meaningful, individualized goals. The assessment typically lasts up to two hours.
